Ah thank you SO MUCH for this! Do you put the paper on the top and bottom of the fabric, or just on the top? : o

well, in this case the back of the fabric was just... cloth... so I put on top only. But if the vinyl is on the back, too, then I put on the back, too. It gets slightly annoying when sewing, but it's really worth it.

Thanks for this! Can I suggest something? Put painter's tape on the bottom of your presser foot (and poke the needle through), and also cover the top of your sewing machine in the same tape :)

Oh, that's a really good idea! By painter's tape you mean masking tape? Like duct tape but made of paper? I'll definitely try it out!

Kinda; painter's tape is the stuff that's not too sticky so that you can use it to paint straight line and stuff without ruining the paint or material underneath ^^

I do use this on occasion, but usually I'm not fond of it because the thread comes out looser. I suggest a plastic foot. They have less friction. I've hear some people use some kind of lubricant. That it help the foot move along smoothly.

I also thought the thread would come looser, but... surprisingly... I didn't!I think it's a lot about calibrating the sewing machine and ripping the paper in certain directions. And the chances of finding a plastic foot for my sewing machine are very slim... that's why I tried this version. But thanks for the tip ;)

Ahahahah, me and my friend ruined a whole bunch of boot covers before and thought we probably shouldn't try to work with (vinyl) leather again.
Well, now we have a solution, so thanks a whole bunch!! :33

Awesome tutorial! X3 do you this could work with leather too? My boyfriend said a trick w/ leather can be done with baby oil :))

I'v never worked with leather before, so I don't really know. But I can imagine why baby oil might work on leather. In the end the leather absorbs the oil. I have a leather couch and I "treat" it with hand cream from time to time. It gets softer and the leather feels so much better! :P
